Abu Dabbab is approximately 3 hours drive from Hurghada, and has one of the best sandy beaches in the Marsa Alam region. The beach is open from 08.00hrs and has food and beverage outlets as well as loungers and cabanas for shelter, privacy and comfort.
It is most famous for giant sea turtles, which are seen almost every day, as well as the harmless guitar sharks and two semi permanent residents nicknamed Dennis and Dougal, our endangered dugong ''sea cow's' . The chance of seeing these famous dugongs vary from season to season (being slightly higher in the summer), and overall on any one day perhaps less than fifty-fifty. However, many visitors have been lucky and some have even seen both dugongs on the same day and been able to swim with them. The beach is also home to colourful reefs perfect for snorkelling, beautiful fish, a small shipwreck and a swim though canyon with underwater caves.
